Important results from the project
The purpose of the pilot study was to develop project plans and an RDI application where Lund University and ABB together should develop the next generation autotuner for PID controllers. This we have done. We have had meetings with ABB and put up plans for the research project. Unfortunately, this application does not approved.
Expected long term effects
The result, to develop project plans and to submit an RDI application is completed. The positive outcome is the enthusiasm for the project that both LU and ABB demonstrated, as well as the project plan made. The negative outcome is that VINNOVA did not share this enthusiasm.
Approach and implementation
According to plans, the feasibility study would consist of the following four projects: 1. Start building a simple variant of the autotuner. 2. Examine the demands and wishes of the process industry has what functionality and user interface by interviewing appropriate persons process industry. 3. Develop project plans. 4. Lund University and ABB will jointly write an RDI application based on the results of the three points above. These sub-projects are completed.
