Important results from the project
he aim of the project is to increase the use of satellite data for innovation and development of society and industry. The goal is to get data, technology and methodology in place in a first version of a space data lab, so that companies, authorities and others can systematically develop new services and applications based on the use of satellite data. The goal has been achieved by the project developing a scalable solution to enable storage and access to satellite data and through this, the project has created conditions for increased use of satellite data.
Expected long term effects
The goals of the project have been met and the project has developed a prototype of a scalable solution to enable storage and access to space data and demonstrated the potential of satellite data and the space data lab. Expected effects are that the project has contributed to an increased interest in the use of satellite data and analysis tools for satellite data and initiated new innovations in the field. Demand for the space data lab has exceeded expectations and there are great opportunities for further development and creation of a national innovation hub for satellite data.
Approach and implementation
The plan was to get an infrastructure in place as soon as possible to be able to carry out pilots and other activities. Establishing the platform, making it more stable and faster and creating a user portal that is accessible via the web with a user-friendly graphical interface has taken much more time than expected, which is a valuable insight for the future. Furthermore, participation in various events, seminars, hackathons, etc. and the dissemination of information that has taken place there has been an important component in increasing interest in the space data lab and satellite data.
