Purpose and goal

Minc, Sting and ABI have together with Saminvest set up the three pilots for angel investment schemes (ÄIB) with good results. The purpose of the project is to spread the concept to more incubators in Sweden, to benefit from the experience gained in order to facilitate and ease for other incubators to set up corresponding structures. The aim is to secure a better financing of Swedish startups and contribute to a greater national investment uniformity. The goal is to deliver methods, documentation, digital tools and best practice on how to set up, finance and operate an ÄIB structure.

Expected results and effects

A lower threshold to start an ÄIB allow more incubators to set up structures in 2019 and 2020. Process descriptions, standardized agreements and digital tools for portfolio management and reporting reduce time and costs. An expected consequence of the project is an increased collaboration between Sweden´s business angels. Experience also prove that the ÄIB-structure can increase the number of female investors. Performance indicators: Start-up cost and time to set up a new ÄIB Number of started ÄIB structures 2019 and 2020

Planned approach and implementation

The project is carried out in close collaboration between Sting, ABI and Minc. The parties cooperate continuously during the project and contribute actively to the work packages. AP1: Setting up an ÄIB structure AP2: Running an ÄIB structure The processes will be documented, and standardized contract documents will be produced and shared with other incubators in Sweden. Digital support tools will be evaluated and recommended to ease the administration of an ÄIB. The result will be communicated via webinars, template documents and a concluding national meeting.
