Important results from the project
The project has helped Atlantic Quantum develop a small-scale prototype of a quantum processor and demonstrate record-low operational error rates in a lab environment. Furthermore, the company has established a manufacturing flow and circuit integration methods that can be scaled up to larger systems. These results have helped the company attract additional funding.
Expected long term effects
The project has laid the foundation for our development of larger quantum processors enabling quantum error correction. Our results confirm that the chosen architecture is viable and that the precision of the manufacturing process meets the targeted requirements. New hires and new equipment strengthen our capacity. The project supports Swedish competence development and industrialization.
Approach and implementation
Within this project we developed a quantum processor prototype and a reproducible manufacturing flow, where Chalmers´ cleanroom Myfab was a key resource. The project was completed with full staffing and no major deviations. The project comprised five work packages: 1. Circuit design 2. Device manufacturing – this was the largest part of the project 3. Device characterization 4. Business development – partner discussions, market surveys 5. Administration and reporting
