Purpose and goal
The MASSIV project aims to develop and implement new techniques for isolating micro services running on containers, to validate these techniques, and to create the conditions for deploying the new solutions in a Swedish cloud infrastructure. The project will work to develop platform-independent solutions to automate the creation of security profiles and to apply these to micro services running in the cloud. The overall goal is to verify the technology in a pilot project.
Expected effects and result
The project will contribute with two different technical sub-solutions. They are both further developments of previous technology for automatic profiling that requires AppArmor support and profiling of micro services in operation. This means that there is a need to develop a more general technical solution that works on more platforms and without operational requirements for profiling, and this is what the project will develop and verify in a pilot
Planned approach and implementation
The project will be implemented in three phases, the first phase is a research-focused phase where we will study and make the detailed design for the platform-independent filtering and dynamic profiling. The second phase aims to make an implementation of the technical solutions. The last phase aims at evaluation using a full-scale pilot running Appvas application in Evroc´s infrastructure.
