Call Deepened international collaborations for healthy and resilient societies

Purpose and goal

MUCO-Bridge establishes a strategic Sweden–UK partnership to enable preclinical development of a first-in-class inhaled therapy that dissolves mucus plugs in COPD and other lung diseases. COPD is the third leading cause of death globally, and mucus plugs are the last untreated driver of the disease. The project brings MucoLife Therapeutics and its partners together around a joint preclinical strategy that enables advancement to first-in-human clinical trials.

Expected effects and result

The project delivers four concrete results: (1) a collaboration agreement between MucoLife Therapeutics and its partners; (2) an integrated preclinical strategy document; (3) a pre-submission scientific advice request to the regulatory authorities; (4) a joint IP and data-sharing framework. The outcome is that MucoLife Therapeutics can advance to clinical trials in humans, and that Sweden gains a replicable model for international inhaled therapeutics development.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is executed in five work packages: steering committee establishment and governance (WP1), a two-day workshop to define the preclinical strategy (WP2), a pre-submission scientific advice request to the regulatory authorities (WP3), an IP and funding framework (WP4), and partnership formalization (WP5). All work packages deliver written outputs approved by the steering committee.
