Important results from the project
The purpose of this project was to identify and implement, as well as test and verify, a method for sanitizing Agrilogik´s mobile manure separator. Thus, the overall aim was to secure an effective and practical method that would allow field sanitation after each delivery.
Expected long term effects
The project resulted in a satisfactory sanitation level, above the industry standard. Heated air is pumped through the interior of the system, whilst chemical desinfectants are utilized to cover and sanitize the exterior surfaces. Some work on improving the field applicability of the process remains, though.
Approach and implementation
The project was divided into four phases - identification of possible sanitation methods, implementation of chosen method, internal field testing and external verification. Identifying sanitation methods was relatively straightforward. Successfully implementing these methods into our prototype proved to be time consuming however. Although it postponed the project by a month, our internal tests showed a sanitation level good enough to commercialise the concept.
