Important results from the project
To design a fiber based NPS sensor system for battery control with focus on low manufacturing cost and preserved sensing performance, and investigate the potential for other application areas based on the same platform. The pre-study has reached the specified goals, and will be the basis to further development.
Expected long term effects
The results from the project will be used in future development, specially for the battery sensor but also for other fiber based sensor applications. The project has showed it is possible to build very inexpensive fiber optic sensor system that meet the requirement for the NPS battery sensor. The market exploitation has showed that the fiber optic system opens the door to other interesting applications within e.g. in vivo diagnostics, and process industry.
Approach and implementation
The project has been carried out in cooperation between Insplorion AB and RISE Acreo, where the companies jointly investigated the technical specifications and possibilities of the sensor system, and Insplorion has further developed future commercialization opportunities in respect to the market potential and competition.
