Purpose and goal
The Mimer AI Factory accelerates AI development and adoption across Sweden by providing a sovereign high-performance environment for training, deployment and innovation. Mimer supports AI-driven science, empowers SMEs with accessible compute and expertise, strengthens Sweden’s role in the European AI ecosystem, builds national AI competence, and promotes responsible, sustainable AI.
Expected effects and result
Mimer is expected to increase Swedish innovation power through faster AI development, stronger competitiveness for companies and deeper collaboration between academia, industry and the public sector. The initiative strengthens Europe´s digital sovereignty, increases AI competence nationally and contributes to responsible, energy-efficient and scalable AI use.
Planned approach and implementation
Mimer establishes a national AI factory with clear governance, secure data environments, and scalable training and support programs. A cloud-first infrastructure is being built for sharing and handling sensitive data, complemented by open education, pilot projects, and structured customer process. Sector-specific investments in life science, materials, autonomous systems, and gaming are combined with active ecosystem work and services for testing and AI-Act compliance.
