Important results from the project

The goal of gaining strategic input on organization for establishing a medical XR center at Karolinska was achieved through discussions with such actors and companies in Silicon Valley. Collaborative projects have been initiated on the validation of medical XR in clinical and educational settings, rehabilitation, and the development of a Theranostic Digital Twin for precision medicine and pre-treatment simulation. All projects contribute to improved education, care and enhanced patient safety.

Expected long term effects

Establish a Network: Connections formed during the project lay the foundation for future interdisciplinary collaborations, accelerating the advancement of medical XR in education, healthcare, and research in Sweden and globally. Enhance Knowledge of Data Security: The project highlights the importance of secure data transmission, contributing to robust solutions that ensure continuity in critical healthcare processes and improve patient safety.

Approach and implementation

The focus before the trip to Silicon Valley was to identify potential partners and initiate contact. On-site, several meetings and workshops were held with these parties, including center for medical XR and innovative interventional radiology, as well as a company specializing in AI for training and performance. These resulted in joint projects and long-term collaborations, including simulation, education, rehabilitation, and the development of Theranostic Digital Twin for precision medicine.
