Project duration May 2018 - April 2019
Status Completed
Venture MT4H strategic project call

Purpose and goal

The overall goal of the project was to contribute to increased knowledge and awareness of the possibilities of MAX IV and ESS for applications in the Medical Technology sector. Through mapping, outreach activities, project presentations in various forums and a workshop including a site visit to MAX IV, the project has contributed to an increased knowledge of applications and technologies relevant to the industry that are under construction.

Expected results and effects

Mapping of relevant actors and applicable techniques has been carried out. Networks and constellations with common interests have been built through outreach activities and a workshop aimed at the Medical Technology Industry. Visiting the facility (MAX IV) and looking at the existing instruments was a very good way to demonstrate the potential of technology. A medical technology pilot project has been initiated and several are expected for future calls. A white paper for the application of MAX IV and ESS in Medtech will be formulated based on the outcome of the project.

Planned approach and implementation

Through increased knowledge of relevant applications, techniques and practical details for use, we have lowered the threshold for medtech industry to both nationally and internationally exploit the facilities, and thus increase accessibility. The project was divided into two stages. The first step involved mapping of relevant applications and techniques, academic groups already active in the field, as well as companies that may potentially benefit from using MAX IV and ESS. Step two included training/workshop and set up of one pilot studiy.
