Important results from the project
The goal was to map out the possibilities and prerequisites for Macromould to become a supplier to the avionic industry. During the workshop held within the project different possibilities for Macromould were discussed, on behalf of how and in what way they can differ from other suppliers on the market.
Expected long term effects
It clarified that a new tooling concept had to be found, that was not supplied by anyone else in the north of Scandinavia today to make it in to the market. But if that is done, we can see great potential for future business. With a focus on fast delivery of new tools, prototype- and one of tools that doesn’t need to last large number of ---- Discussions are held about the possibility to go further within a step 2 project together with another SMF and a large airplane manufacturer.
Approach and implementation
The project started with a company visit at Macromould, Sicomp got a greater understanding of the company and how they work. After that some interviews was made with people in both sme and big avionics companies regarding the tooling demands on plugs and tools. This was summarized and used as a base for the discussions during the workshop held within the project in Linköping. The workshop ended with a company tour at an airplane manufacturer. The final report is used as a foundation for future step 2 project.
