Reference number
Coordinator Göteborgsregionens kommunalförbund - GR Utbildning
Funding from Vinnova SEK 332 525
Project duration November 2013 - August 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to create new open data within the field of admissions to upper secondary school in the Gothenburg Region of Local Authorities. As the admissions system was further developed during the same time, the logic for the information was integrated in the source system. Relevant information in the field of admissions to upper secondary school will be loaded in February, according to the admission process for 2015. That is also when the information will be available to download through APIs.

Results and expected effects

The full result of the project will be seen earliest in February when the system fills with information. Since this is the first time admissions to upper secondary school will be open in Sweden there is an interest both from other municipalities and the Swedish National Agency for Education. Structuring data in a warehouse has given more understanding within the organisation for the information stored.

Approach and implementation

The process of identifying and going through the data sources took longer time than anticipated due to new contractor within the area. By embedding the logic in the source system it was possible to extract more information into the data warehouse. Thereafter the preparations for how to open APIs with maximum usability began. Data was validated and tested and preparation for the external data warehouse with unidentified individuals started.
