Project duration November 2015 - October 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Maker Hotel is a collaboration between Makerspark and Nordic Choice Hotels, which invites makers from the whole country to co-create the hotel room of the future. A creative, experimental exploration of the opportunities of the Internet of Things, mobile apps, open data and open hardware in the context of the temporary home. Our goal is to create an open ´MakerCamp´ during 2016, where makers compete in creating solutions for the hotel industry. We hope to, together with our makers, be able to create a real ´prototype room´, installed at one of the Nordic Choice Hotels.

Expected results and effects

* Learn makers how to understand customer needs and go from ideas to sales. * Create at least one case of how big companies can innovate together with makers. * Create at least one prototype to be sold.

Planned approach and implementation

We will start spring 2016 by recruiting more partners. Depending on how the process goes, we will set an event date either before or after the summer and start our recruiting of makers. The core of the project will en the form of either one or two events, and will consist of idea generation / idea competition, followed by an execution phase where an actual room at NCH ir rebuilt. This room is planned to be for rent at the hotel and will act as a real world ´test lab´ for both NCH and the makers who created it.´
