Call | Future prototypes for a sustainable forest value chain |
Important results from the project
Yes, the project met its goals – to illustrate a future where forest value remains local through film and a physical prototype. It has led to tangible impact in Borlänge, new collaborations, testing of a local forest value chain, and continued dissemination in research and government projects. The project also shows potential for other actors to take strategic roles in place-based transitions.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to contribute to a long-term transition toward place-based, sustainable forest value chains. It shows how forest value can remain local and how the municipality can organize around the entire chain. Value is created when the parts are connected, strengthening strategic collaboration between public and private actors. The project lays the foundation for new business models and strategies for climate transition and local resilience.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out as planned, with the film and prototype as key components. The work was based on backcasting and co-creation with the municipality and other stakeholders. The collaboration functioned well and the timeline was met, despite the short process. The work developed organically, and the film has proven to have great potential as a tool for dialogue – several new forums have shown interest, opening up for broader use than initially expected.
