Call Future prototypes for a sustainable forest value chain

Purpose and goal

A city film is created visualizing Borlänge 2050 with a fully integrated forest value chain, where the value stays and is enhanced locally. The purpose is to encourage more municipalities and forest owners to see the potential in actively managing the forest value chain so that its values benefit the local community. The project aims to inspire new forms of governance, requirements, and political decisions based on the scenario where Ecosystems guide decision-making.

Expected effects and result

The project results in a film from the future based on a local forest value chain. During the process, participants receive tools to think differently about the forest as a resource. The film becomes a communicable tool that inspires more actores to act. Borlänge — and other municipalities— begin to integrate the perspective of local value creation into planning, policy, and development. In the long term, this contributes to resilience, collaborations, and sustainable management of forest value.

Planned approach and implementation

The working group develops a clear communication concept based in Levande skog levande samhälle that conveys the message of the future prototype in a clear way. A storyboard is created for the film narrative as well as for possible motion graphics. The process includes workshops, research, and consultation with various actors in the project. The demonstration of the prototype will be conducted in Borlänge, where it can be integrated into public dialogues, events, and municipal planning processes
