Project duration January 2016 - June 2018
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The test bed LignoCity has developed its infrastructure and offering to those who want to scale up ideas where lignin is a component. Cooperation in the region with Region Värmland, Municipality of Kristinehamn and Paper Province has strengthened the offer. We have managed to communicate LignoCity´s offer and opportunities within and outside the P&P industry as well as to politicians. Access to infrastructure for various ideas providers (companies and universities etc) has improved and the offer has been extended to apply "from idea to establishment".

Expected long term effects

Due to the fact that LignoCity has become significantly more known through the project, customer inquiries have increased & pure consulting assignments have grown. As LignoCity´s offer grows wider, we expect the plant to play an important role in opening lignin´s various value chains & contributing to an increasing bio-based economy. We hope the availability of LignoCity´s combined expertise will strengthen existing SMEs and give rise to new companies when the GO model is applied.Large amounts of lignin can be offered during a development phase & an establishment period.

Approach and implementation

The project layout has been applied quite flexibly (but within the project framework) to meet current (todays) challenges and needs. It worked very well. The meetings and workshops that have been conducted have been more of the nature of individual meetings with those who have had real need to access LignoCity´s offer. Internal project meetings have been held back for this kind of meetings / workshops. Much of the work has been focused on strengthening LignoCity´s regional bioeconomic offer. This has led to a follow-up project funded by the EU Regional Program.
