Purpose and goal

It is one of the mechanisms within LIGHTer (ligtherarena.se) which is a cross-industry lightweight arena, for efficient technology development and developing people with unique, multidisciplinary ability to create products and services aiming at low weight. LIGHTer Academy has a large international exposure in the form of scientific publications, participation and organization of scientific conferences and sessions.

Expected results and effects

LIGHTer Academy has five overall goals that contribute the impact of the lightweight arena LIGHTer’s goal for 2033. The contributions are; increase in people with competence in lightweight; a new structure for research and innovation; personal mobility between industry / academia / institutes; and an increase in lightweight innovations. The completed stage reached the goals of increasing the size of the LIGHTer Academy. In addition, the number of scientific publications has been exceeded. The researchers have also strengthened the international network during the stage.

Planned approach and implementation

The research is conducted at lower TRL levels with clear future applications that require mixed competencies regarding metals and composites. The cluster has held joint seminars four times a year. They have been important in establishing new collaborations and dissemination of knowledge. In addition, work on specific issues has been carried out in subgroups and collaborative projects. They have been designed with a view to being generic and have thus also driven research forward.
