Coordinator Mälardalens Universitet - Akademin för ekonomi samhälle & teknik EST
Funding from Vinnova SEK 750 000
Project duration June 2025 - February 2026
Status Ongoing
Venture Accelerate - FFI
Call FFI Accelerera the transition to sustainable road transport - spring 2025

Purpose and goal

The electrification of the transport sector is crucial to meet the EU´s “Fit for 55” and Sweden´s objective of 70% lower transport emissions by 2030. The objective of the project is to: - Map barriers and opportunities for electrified transportation and smart charging solutions. - Develop business models and incentives to balance investments in charging infrastructure and energy use. - Prepare a full-scale system demonstrator that can be tested in a real environment.

Expected effects and result

Expected results of the feasibility study is a study of the conditions for a continued project. The most important impacts include: - Optimization of transport flows through electrification of vehicles and smart charging infrastructure. - Increased flexibility in the energy system through load balancing. - High replication and scalability potential to other ports, logistics centers and mines. - Business models and incentives that enable large-scale investments in fossil-free logistics.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be implemented over 8 months and is divided into four work packages: 1. Mapping of transport and energy needs for electrification of the port of Oxelösund. 2. Mobilization of actors and development of business models to enable large-scale implementation. 3. Technical analysis and development of digital platforms for transport and energy optimization. 4. Planning of system demonstrator and strategy for scaling up.
