Purpose and goal
To optimize and improve the salt mix used for preventive anti-slip control, thus minimizing the number of runs and total salt consumption, salt runs and thereby - Improve the durability of the road - Decrease the C02 load from salt vehicles - Decrease the total amount of salt - implement a more gentle handling in water conservation areas. - Reduced energy consumption
Expected results and effects
It is expected that the same benefits, as shown in previous tests, may be transmitted on the heavy traffic network. The salt mixture used is more expensive to manufacture, but according to Karlstad municipality´s earlier tests, it proved that the sheet gives gains by reducing the necessary salting intervals and has a positive effect on the amount of particles in the air.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is intended to start with a literature study to see what has already been done in the subject area. Parallel to this, a test and reference distance will be decided upon. During the coming winter season salting, metting, follow-up etc. will occur simultaneously on the test distance and the reference distance so that the conditions are as equivalent as possible.
