Purpose and goal
Excillum AB from Sweden and Scientific Gear Service (SGService) from Taiwan intend to collaborate to develop a dedicated inspection system for panel-level-packaging (PLP) based on oblique X-ray computed tomography (oblique X-ray CT).
Expected effects and result
Excillum´s improved and tailored X-ray source based on NanoTube N3 technology aims to reach 3x higher flux. SGService system will have shorter measurement times, by using NanoTube X-ray source, multiple 2D detectors, advanced software for 3D reconstruction and automatic error detection, partly powered by AI. It´s expected that the oblique X-ray CT system will meet the customers´ eligibility requirements on speed of analysis so that the product can be used for inspection during manufacturing.
Planned approach and implementation
Excillum is lead partner, hence does the overall coordination of the project (WP1), and is responsible for developing the necessary X-ray tubes to supply the X-ray CT imaging equipment (WP3). SGService develops and sets up the oblique X-ray CT system equipment (detectors, motion, control system, software in WP2) and performance testing (WP4). After project completion, the product will be sold to the end customer and both SGService and Excillum will stand to profit from the business endeavor.
