Purpose and goal

The Swedish impact platform for the IoT (IoT ActEU) was a two-year project focusing on impact targets, a strategy and execution impact work aimed at strengthening Sweden´s influence on, and participation in, Europe´s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Framework Program. The project is supported by a partnership with Swedish "IoT-intensive" actors - that is, the same partnership that lies behind SIP IoT Sweden. The fulfillment is approved. Changing the focus within SIP IoT Sweden made the plans change. The window of influence in the EU was closed at many stages in this short project.

Expected results and effects

The work focused on ensuring a strong platform for long-term work and achieving short-term goals in the form of increased Swedish participation in the H2020 ICT calls, which has been successful as the number of Swedish participants has increased. Long-term work has resulted in participation in groups eg AIOTI, IoT Forum. Increased understanding of creating impact on EU framework programs has been obtained, resulting in a coordinated approach for the ICT sector, i.e the Digital Sweden platform. The creation of several new contacts, participation in EU groupings for impact.

Planned approach and implementation

-Ambitious plan but short project time and given that the project learnt that window of opportunity for advocacy work are not always open, longer project time is needed to achieve results and knowledge -Optimally, Strategic Innovation Program (SIP) with its associated advocacy Platform should belong to the same host organization to maximize synergies at work, for example, utilizing the SIP Board to the Steering Group for the advocacy Platform. -the Project choose not to distribute all budget and allocate people when the SIP focus changed over time. It would have been complicated to withdraw budget that may not fit everyone in the new direction
