Important results from the project
Evira is a digital support system for treatment of childhood obesity, which in clinical trials dramatically improved the treatment results without making the care more expensive compared to standard Swedish treatment. In this project, we will develop and validate a prototype, and evaluate the future commercial product. The project´s objective is a validated digital concept for clinical treatment of childhood obesity that leads to highly efficient care with good long-term treatment results at a low cost.
Expected long term effects
Although the Vinnova project has ended, the international study where the digital support system is validated continues. Local clinical tests for the development of a prototype for earlier identification of treatment failure have been carried out in Sweden. Thanks to the study, Evira got in touch with NHS England, who recently completed a procurement of a digital support system for childhood obesity. Evira won the tender, which led to a large two-year pilot project at 20 clinics in England. Commercial discussions for establishment in a number of other countries are also ongoing.
Approach and implementation
The evaluation is done i.a. through a larger study in 68 European countries. Development projects are evaluated in smaller local studies where these are tested specifically, partly in an iterative process. The international evaluation is finally used in the market analysis. Despite delays in the study, due to the covid epidemic and the war in Ukraine, the project has brought great success to the company - a pilot project in England and expansion of Evira-using clinics in Sweden are two examples. We´ve had great collaboration with Vinnova and are grateful for their support in the project.
