Important results from the project
During the project, the project leader published in many high-quality peer-reviewed conferences and journals with colleagues in Sweden, Germany, South Africa, Canada and Spain. She extended her research into robotics and her grew her national and international network into humanities, arts, and robotics as well as into industry. In 2016 she co-founded a startup commercialising her research. She is co-applicant and is assistant co-ordinator of the ITN H2020 research proposal "Social Cognitive Robotics in the European Society".
Expected long term effects
The project leader established herself as a senior researcher with rare and outstanding expertise reflecting her dual background in Computational Linguistics and Formal Language Theory. The expected outcomes are growing and functioning national and international networks, exploring new research areas (i.e. robotics, conversational interfaces) with important relevance for future research fundings, and growing industrial collaboration and successful research commercialisation.
Approach and implementation
The project focused on strengthening the project leaders position in the research community by active international collaborations regarding research papers, research proposals, teaching and supervision and by collaborating with industry. The research papers, joint successful international projects and co-founding a startup show that the project was not only successful from a research point of view, but that it opened up the opportunity for the project leader to also pursue entrepreneurship (not planned in the beginning of the project).
