Important results from the project

The project has aimed to explore the possibility of integrating cycling and public transport in a systematic way. The goal of the project has been to develop a concept for combined mobility that suits Västra Götaland. Furthermore, a implementation process has been developed in order to create a bicycle-friendly public transportation system. The concept has been divided into six interconnected areas to create an attractive combined mobility.

Expected long term effects

The project has resulted in a concept for bicycle integrated public transportation system. The concept takes into account six different areas, all of which are important for combined mobility. Within each area, a number of different measures are proposed and gathered in a toolbox, from which measures can be selected based on the specific needs. In addition to the concept, a implemenation process for the concept has been proposed. The results of this project enables a framework for furthur development of a bicycle-friendly public transportation in Västra Götaland.

Approach and implementation

The work has begun with a strategic analysis consisting of a literature study, interview studies and two workshops. Based on the analysis of the best practices, a concept has been developed for the integration of bicycle and public transportation. The concept has been divided into six interconnected areas. Finally, a implemenation process for the concept has been proposed.
