Important results from the project
The project developed a vision and competence profile for a Swedish excellence cluster integrating materials design, product development, and production control, accelerated by AI and in-operando methods, initially focused on metals. It mobilized academia and industry, defined high-impact value chains, and established competence and further steps for implementation. The initiative also converged with related Vinnova projects, and evolved toward broader material scopes.
Expected long term effects
The project vision is expected to be part of one or more future clusters of excellence that will last for ten years or longer.
Approach and implementation
The initiative brought together leading universities, industry partners from across Sweden. In the vision phase, activities will include workshops (online and physical), discussions among partners in various groups, conceptual development and investigation of concepts and the development of central industry impact demonstrators, identification of necessary competences and organisational structures to ensure that the vision is aligned with national and European strategies.
