Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to run an open and accessible testbed where new innovative ideas, techniques and products for environmentally friendly and productivity-enhancing seed treatments can be developed and tested. This has been completed and, more specifically, a complete evaluation chain for seeds has been built up with BioAgri, as service provider for tests, Agriplantarium for field trials and soil tests, Acanova TESSTLAB for treatment of seeds, and the SLU microbiology department for demo treatments. The project has had the majority of paying customers
Expected long term effects
The most important result is that a completely new area of use for the heat treatment of seeds has been identified, namely food hygiene. This has been successfully verified on sprouts, shoots and micro-plants in collaboration with customers. Furthermore, discussions are being held with a new principal to continue running the testbed.
Approach and implementation
The set schedule has been fully followed. Project partners have invested more resources than budgeted, which shows the strategic value of the project. In addition to planned activities, there are also ongoing final negotiations regarding the long-term financially sustainable continuation of the business.
