Important results from the project
The project has strengthened international collaboration in additive manufacturing of metal. The research performers have broadened their network and also jointly developed the ability to address industry-driven problems from materials to physical demonstrators. In the project, solutions regarding powder-based additive manufacturing have been developed in terms of materials, process (printing and gas technology) and design for AM. The project has also meant that international parties have shown increased interest in collaborating with actors in Sweden.
Expected long term effects
The project has meant that the parties have been able to develop their ability to address industry-driven problems in the area of additive manufacturing. The project has also meant that the research performers´ capacity (Chalmers, RISE) to address complex problems has been developed. Through the project, collaboration with companies has developed internationally and connections have been created with Swedish companies. This means in the long term that new value chains can be supported and have effects in terms of both national and international projects.
Approach and implementation
The project has been implemented in the form of technically oriented work packages, where the focus has been developed when it comes to connection to demonstrators. This means that end users have defined needs which then has provided for the material selection, design for additive manufacturing, process development and the need for finishing. This means that the R&D work could have been defined on the basis of this strategy. The capacity and ability have been developed here through the project, that is the ability has been developed and deepened during the project implementation.
