Purpose and goal
The project aims to develop and scientifically validate a fermented feed ingredient that reduces post-weaning diarrhea, improves growth, and strengthens gut health in piglets. The goal is to create an effective, sustainable, and commercially applicable solution that can replace zinc oxide and reduce antibiotic use in pig production.
Expected effects and result
The project is expected to result in a scientifically validated fermented feed ingredient that reduces post-weaning diarrhea and improves piglet growth and health. The effects include increased production efficiency, reduced antibiotic use, and improved animal welfare. In the long term, the solution will contribute to lower climate impact and a more sustainable and profitable pig production.
Planned approach and implementation
First, the fermentation process is developed and optimized at laboratory scale to ensure stability and functionality. Next, an in vivo study on piglets is conducted in collaboration with researchers to evaluate the effects on gut flora, growth, and health.
