Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project has been fulfilled, since a suitable locality has been identified, in vicinity to an Epiroc (formerly Atlas Copco) factory in Örebro. In addition, we have submitted an application for funding to EIT KIC Raw Materials, seeking financing to establish the test center. Örebro kommun has also expressed an interest in the project, with positive initial feedback.

Expected results and effects

Two main results have come out of the study, which follow the initial goals of the study: 1. A suitable locality has been identified to establish the I-EDDA test center, by taking into consideration different factors that affect the suitability of the chosen locality; 2. An application for financing to establish the test center has been sent to EIT KIC Raw Materials.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was conducted through a close collaboration between Uppsala University and Epiroc. The work included, 1) an investigation of the suitability of the chosen locality to establish the test center, including a preliminary geological analysis; 2) an investigation of the permits required to conduct extensive and deep drilling at the chosen locality; 3) planning of equipment needed at the test center, in order to make it operational; 4) A project proposal to EIT KIC Raw Materials, which applies for funding to establish the test center.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
