Important results from the project

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The purpose was to investigate which type of washing process is best suited for sorted fishing gear and can also meet the conditions in Sotenäs municipality and through discussion with actors in the market to be able to formulate functional requirements for a procurement. The majority of dialogue meetings held with relevant actors have resulted in increased knowledge of existing solutions, recommendations on the design of a laundry and a better understanding of how potential users eligibility requirements can be met.

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Industrial washing facilities for plastics fulfill both the function of cleaning the material and sorting it into different polymers. The facilities are designed for handling volumes that are many times larger than what is handled in Sotenä´s marine recycling center and involve a very large investment. Given those conditions, it is not currently justified to invest in a washing facility with the degree of complexity seen in industrial laundries. The focus should be on a simpler type of washing where impurities in the form of solid particles are removed.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project contained three central parts; 1) needs and market analysis, 2) dialogue meetings with actors and 3) formulation of functional requirements for a possible procurement. The arrangement has been relevant and resulted in increased knowledge about technical solutions and conditions for washing recycled plastic and has contributed to the municipality´s long-term work with marine plastic.
