Important results from the project

Skis and poles where LCA has been a big factor, has driven the production of prototypes made from both skis and poles. Prototypes have been tested under difficult conditions by professional skiers. The cost of manufacturing the prototypes has also been an important factor, manhours is a greater cost than the material for these products. Therefore, great focus has also been placed on getting the best possible quality. Which in turn affects quality of life - and reduces environmental impact.

Expected long term effects

We believe that the project will provide inspiration to other companies that want to switch to a more environmentally friendly material. We are already noticing that there is great interest in the project. So it will not only spread to other sports products but also to completely different types of products. Everyone in the consortium has also developed in bio-based materials both in terms of moisture, varnishing and other difficulties. We also believe that it can lead to new project.

Approach and implementation

The project was divided into five different WPs. WP 2, LCA had a large part in material choice. And in addition, evaluation of the prototypes. . Work package 3 included painting and material development. A large number of materials and painting techniques were tested. A possibility for Swedish fiber production has also been investigated, which we hope leads to new project. Work package 4 was prototype development where at least 20 prototypes were manufactured and tested.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
