Important results from the project
The purpose of this project was an exchange to learn more about AI and medical innovation and research at Stanford University. I was part of a research group where there are several ongoing project in machine learning and heart medicine. I participated in seminars at Stanford University that dealt with AI and its implementation in healthcare. Two new project have been started, one is a substudy within Apple Heart Study. Furthermore, the purpose of the project was to establish a network of contacts that enables future collaborations, which as above has been initiated and will continue.
Expected long term effects
The project has resulted in an established collaboration with Stanford University which consists of two research projects. The first work will be a partial study on Apple Watch, where I will use data from the The Apple Heart Study. The second project is to map patients at Stanford Hospital who have a smart watch and build a database that describes their medical background, but also how they use the smart watch as an aid in their care. These project will continue remotely and enable more future project. The trip also resulted in an increased network an increased knowledge within AI.
Approach and implementation
The project began with establishing a contact and obtaining an invitation to visit Stanford University as a short term visitor. Then the planning of the trip began, which took place during 6 weeks May-June 2023. At Stanford I participated in a research group and had my workplace at the Center of Academic Medicine. I started two project together with my supervisor. I participated in various trainings given at Stanford University with a focus on AI. Finally, during my stay I had the opportunity to meet and talk with several researchers and visit different departments at Stanford.
