Important results from the project
The project fulfilled its goals of regional knowledge exchange, structured dissemination, and external visibility. The report "Innovation is no quick fix" identified six key capabilities for healthcare innovation. The project also generated increased national interest, leading to a new follow-up application aimed at further developing the regions’ strategic work with innovation-supporting structures.
Expected long term effects
The project has created lasting collaboration between the participating regions: Region Uppsala, Region Östergötland, Region Västerbotten and Västra Götalandsregionen. The project has strengthened the innovation capacity in the regions and contributed to knowledge being disseminated to other regions nationally. Working methods and insights are expected to form the basis for continued system development and more equal innovation capacity in Swedish healthcare.
Approach and implementation
The project was implemented through a systematic learning exchange, regular workshops, reporting, communication and collaboration between the project partners as well as with external actors and researchers. Swedish Medtechs´s role as coordinator of the regional projects has been crucial for an effective knowledge exchange and coordination of external activities.
