Purpose and goal

Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SNF) have performed an innovation contest in the area of technology with good potential for positive environmental effects. The contest was defined to the area of intelligent systems of energy loads in private households. The winning products is designed to simplify microgeneration of electricity and give environmental value by steering of energy loads and energy efficiency. Throughout the process SNF have increased knowledge about innovation contests. And in addition engaged innovators and stakeholders for further cooperation.

Results and expected effects

The project has resulted in the implementation of an innovation contest together with the project partners. Where in the innovators has recieved help and support in purpose of creating a products which gives great energy- and environmental values concerning the energy usage in private households. Naturskyddsföreningen and their partners have also increased their knowledge on how to host innovation contests and how to work with it as an succesfull tool.

Approach and implementation

In order to create rules and goals for the innovation contest , the project was built around a foundation which concisted of a project group. The group also created marketing activities in order to reach out to potential participants. The contest consisted of two parts where the first part was more free and the second part was defined to companies and prototypes. Information about the contests where spread widely as possible and resulted in many interesting entrys. A grand jury consisting of experts. The winner and two runner ups was then presented at ´electricity related exhibition´.
