Purpose and goal

The goal was to formulate a SIA for future media distribution, by elucidating the challenges for Swedish industry to exploit the opportunities in the ongoing global media revolution. One objective was that a broad range of stakeholders active in the area of media distribution over the Internet should be allowed to give input to the work. The aim of the agenda is to propose a program of research and innovation in media distribution over the Internet, resulting in growth and increased competitiveness in Sweden and contribute to meet key global societal challenges. Results and expected effects

The result of this project is a research- and innovation agenda for the future media distribution in Sweden. The project also resulted in active discussion with the Swedish industry and academia, which gave valuable input to the agenda. Many new contacts were taken and established. An agenda presents a vision, goals and activities that can be a basis of a research and innovation program, which is also what is outlined in this agenda.

Approach and implementation

The work has been primarily performed by a core group from Acreo, SICS, Interactive Institute and Lund University. This group has had 26 scheduled meetings, in addition to the work done between the meetings. A reference group consisting of representatives from Arkena, Ericsson, ViaPlay, TV 4, Spotify, TeliaSonera and Peerialism, has been involved in the process. Furthermore, the project has involved and asked for support from a number of organizations both from the industry and academia. Finally, 40 organization including the reference group are supporting the agenda.
