Purpose and goal
KI Innovations activities are aimed at research-based companies in human life science in areas such as medtech, biotech, digital health, diagnostics, pharma and healthcare. The industry is characterized by long lead times and high risk. The incubator activities aim to utilize research and benefit society. The goal is to offer a specialized incubator for life science startup companies and attract external capital and skills to the incubator companies. To reach the goal, we work with national, Nordic and international partners.
Expected results and effects
In total, 38 companies have been admitted and coached by internal and external coaches. The incubator has offered activities such as business development programs, events, access to a large network of experts in business development and life science, pitch training and internally organized investment events. During the project period, the companies have attracted SEK 419 million in external funding from investors and a company acquisition for SEK 400 million. Eleven companies have been graduated from the incubator and are expected to be self-sustainable with limited support.
Planned approach and implementation
During the project, we have built processes for admission, evaluation of status, progress and needs, coaching, courses, seminars, granting verification activities, connecting companies with relevant actors in our network, pitch training and communication through our channels. We have also actively helped the companies with soft funding and investments through contacts in our networks and internally and externally arranged events. These are resources that we bring into the continued incubator project.
