Important results from the project

The aim of the project was to develop a 4G-based version of the ECG recording device Zenicor EKG-2. Today´s device is based on GSM technology. The project has successfully delivered new hardware design and software. Back-end has been updated to communicate with the device. Prototypes have since been manufactured and tested internally and in the field in several countries with good results. The goal, to develop a new version based on 4G, is thus considered fulfilled. After formal verification and compliance testing, the product is ready for production.

Expected long term effects

In this project, Zenicor has developed a new version of the device Zenicor-EKG 2 using 4G-network for wireless transfer of ECG recordings from device to central database as a replacement to current 2G-version. With the project, Zenicor has ensured that the device will continue to function also after closing the GSM networks. Furthermore, the performance and reliability of transferring ECG recording to Zenicor´s central database has increased with 4G. With the updated product, Zenicor also has the opportunity to enter new markets where 2G is not present.

Approach and implementation

The project was a close collaboration with experts at Wireless Systems Integrated (WSI). The project was divided into two work packages. In work package 1, HW and SW were designed and developed. Prototypes were developed in two iterations. The final prototypes underwent extensive low-level testing and field testing within the framework of work package 2. Zenicor´s own staff collaborated in all parts with WSI to ensure competence transfer and develop the ability to maintain and further develop the software in-house.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
