Important results from the project

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project aimed to increase knowledge about how municipalities´ conditions for leading and organizing for innovation can be developed. Particular focus was placed on which organizational conditions are central to the utilization of a new idea in municipal activities. The project was designed to respond to the need for increased innovative capacity in participating organizations and in the public sector; new research-based knowledge of innovation management and organization; and equal participation in innovation processes.

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The municipalities´ innovation work was significantly affected by the covid pandemic during the project period. The pandemic required re-prioritization in the operations and thus there were delays in the innovation work. In both municipalities, however, the innovation work continues, which has transitioned from a pilot phase to widespread introduction, which will continue in the coming years. The project has generated publications that increase knowledge about how municipalities´ conditions for leading and organizing for innovation.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project was based on interactive research and collaboration between three parties: Mariestad municipality, Örebro municipality and Linköping University. The project was adapted and developed in relation to the needs and innovation work of all parties. The empirical studies were based on interviews with participants, participant observations as well as workshops and analysis seminars.
