Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The objective project was to investigate whether it was possible with the help of sound control to make it easier for people with visual impairment to carry out long jumps without the help of companions. With the prototype we developed, we can state that it is entirely possible while there is a need to develop the prototype of a product that is both portable and easy to install.
Expected long term effects
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** We can state that the prototype gives the individual security in the approach run and works well as a companion to be able to carry out both approach run and jump. However, a product development is needed which means that the equipment can be quickly assembled and disassembled to be mobile. Furthermore, a product that can facilitate permanent installation on sports arenas. Furthermore, we see a clear opportunity to use the technology in more sports to make it easier for people with visual impairment to carry out both training and competition in a safe way.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** We have used a number of active long jumpers at the elite level with varying degrees of visual impairment. We have also involved people without any knowledge in long jump. We assumed that the needs differed between different degrees of visual impairment. People with visual impairment are divided into B1 which is completely without vision, B2 has a vision where they see between 1 to 5% and B3 where they have a vision between 5 and 10%. In the end we can see a big difference betwen B1 and the others.
