Important results from the project

The project has exceeded its objective. Through 3,673 meetings between 992 startups and 315 organizations, over 715 new collaborations have been created since the start, from pilots to long-term deals. The collaboration network grew to 33 incubators and 71 international partners. More actors from the public sector have become active partners for startups, and many Swedish startups in a variety of areas have gained new customers, developed business models, capital and references

Expected long term effects

In the long term, Ignite Accelerate is expected to contribute to a stronger and more cohesive innovation system in Sweden. The model for needs-driven collaboration means that more startups get customers, capital and international contacts in the early stages. The public sector is integrated as an innovation partner, which strengthens the societal benefit. The result is increased commercialization, more sustainable jobs and a more competitive Swedish business community.

Approach and implementation

The project started in the middle of the pandemic, which meant that many activities had to be converted to digital formats. Despite this, the project was able to be implemented according to plan and with results maintained. The digital meetings even proved to streamline the process by allowing more decision-makers to participate, which led to more relevant matches. When restrictions were eased, digital and physical activities were combined, strengthening both reach and relationship building.
