Funding from Vinnova SEK 472 500

Status Ongoing

Call Deepened international collaborations for healthy and resilient societies

Purpose and goal

The project explores how Hospital at Home (HaH) can strengthen the resilience of healthcare systems during crisis and armed conflict. Medoma and Riga East Clinical University Hospital (RAKUS) will map how HaH is used for preparedness purposes, jointly develop a Swedish-Latvian roadmap and collaboration strategy for resilient HaH capability, and produce a positioning and funding plan for the next phase, creating a basis for continued Nordic-Baltic and European innovation cooperation.

Expected effects and result

The project delivers three results: a research analysis on how HaH is used for preparedness in Sweden, Latvia and internationally; a Swedish-Latvian roadmap and collaboration strategy for resilient HaH capability; and an international positioning and funding plan. Longer term, the project can contribute to greater endurance in healthcare systems, released hospital capacity during crises, and a lasting innovation partnership in decentralised care.

Planned approach and implementation

The project runs from October 2026 to March 2027 in three work packages. WP1 (Oct–Dec): landscape analysis through document review and interviews with key stakeholders. WP2 (Dec–Feb): workshop in Riga with clinical and preparedness stakeholders, additional remote interviews, and joint development of the roadmap and strategy. WP3 (Feb–Mar): mapping of funding opportunities. Medoma coordinates; RAKUS contributes Latvian context.
