Important results from the project

The project developed a high-performance wood-based lightweight material for aviation. The goal of verifying its mechanical properties and durability was achieved, showing potential for weight reduction and lower environmental impact. The collaboration between Organofuel, MIUN, and RISE created new research opportunities and industrial networks. The project also laid the foundation for future testing in real aviation applications and further commercialization.

Expected long term effects

The project is expected to contribute to a more sustainable aviation industry by reducing aircraft component weight, leading to lower fuel consumption and emissions. The technology may also be applied in the automotive and marine sectors. New collaborations and research projects have been initiated, driving further development of bio-based high-performance materials and strengthening Sweden’s position in sustainable aviation technologies.

Approach and implementation

The project involved Organofuel, MIUN, and RISE, each contributing expertise. It included three main activities: prototype manufacturing, technical analyses, and market assessment. The timeline was mostly followed, but challenges arose with technical adjustments and material validation. Regular meetings and close cooperation ensured efficient execution. The results will serve as a foundation for further development and commercialization.
