Important results from the project
The aims and objectives of this project was for Luxbright to determine at which parameters to prototype a high power, microfocus x-ray tube with stationary anode, produce and test such a prototype in an operational system and invoke an IP strategy to protect the project results.
Expected long term effects
Prototype parameters were determined and Luxbright prototype matching such was produced, outfitted within a monoblock and installed in tested within two separate system environments. The tube has performed well in both settings and additional prototype iterations have been manufactured to test component limits under more stressful parameter specifications.
Approach and implementation
Design was framed on market research and project partner needs in consideration of a post-project go-to-market strategy. Luxbright tailored the tube to meet project goals as well as the needs of its testing partner in terms of their system specifications. The tube components were manufactured by Luxbright at an independent lab, with the tube assembly at a manufacturing partner facility. In early 2016, the tube was installed in a scanning system and undergone testing since.
