Important results from the project

The HICED project focused on the implementation and learning of a hybrid version of the ICED Conference - International Conference on Engineering Design. The goal was partly to 1) implement and be able to inspire and document experience of hybrid operations and partly 2) to highlight Swedish innovative capacity in important areas with participants from different parts of the innovation system

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** In accordance with current pandemic restrictions, the hybrid conference was held with about 50 delegates on site in Gothenburg and almost 500 delegates online, from 40 countries. 340 papers 20s workshops and a concluding workshop with panel discussion were held between 16th and 20th August 2021. Experiences have been documented and shared with future organizers. The results from the conference are generally compiled as a report and in the form of a presentation, which is shared publicly.

Approach and implementation

All participants were registered as delegates with access to an online platform. Great emphasis was placed on good quality streaming and republishing of films directly in the program as well as well-prepared facilitation of the various elements. In summary, very good feedback from participants on quality and conference experience, but where the network part is still the weakest part with obvious difficulties in bridging time zones and interactivity. Several activities were carried out to improve this, but best practice will be built up over time.
