Important results from the project
The purpose has been to run a testbed that provides coaching, idea development and testing for employees and companies inside Helsingborg Municipality. Hbg Works is a gathering place for innovation where you can get support in the entire innovation process from idea to upscaling. The goal has been to implement scaled solutions. We currently have 17 implemented projects and over 120 pilots. We have focused on establishing culture, structure and competences as part of the project. We have worked with three perspectives: idea, challenge and opportunity-driven innovation.
Expected long term effects
We have created an innovation system throughout the city. We have established new types of capabilities both centrally, through new roles at Hbg Works, and across the city, through innovation leaders in all departments. We have developed the entire organization to become good at innovation, had countless workshops and constantly practiced how we work with innovation. Challenges have led to increased collaboration, both internally and externally. This has led to over 290 initiatives that address societal challenges, such as language difficulties in and environmental awareness.
Approach and implementation
A major change requires step-by-step work. We have adapted our focus as the organization has matured and worked with culture and structure along the way. Starting with encouraging ideas, Hbg Works for supporting innovation pilots and now, scaling-up and external collaboration. To succeed it has been vital that the project went hand in hand with long-term culture work. Pedagogy and communication have been important, to clarify why we do this so that everyone understands. Innovation is not about creativity but about being methodical and having the ability to implement. Dare - test - do!
