Important results from the project
The project has aimed to contribute to Science Park Skövde Startup´s objective to provide entrepreneurs with the best possible conditions to quickly develop idea into salable product and reach market. With a majority of companies in profiles, IT / tech and computer games, we will generate more growth companies that sell globally and create qualified jobs locally. By being part of the national incubator program 20162020, the incubator has been able to benefit from, among other things, the exchange of experience, statistics and the quality stamp that participation has brought.
Expected long term effects
A total of 455 business ideas were evaluated during 2016-2020. Of these, 209 start-up companies have been admitted to the incubator´s processes for business development. On average, 40 companies have been in the process and employed 105 people annually. Of the 209 admitted to the process, 81 have been part of Vinnovas Excellence Program. 27 new ABs have been formed during incubation and more than 40 companies have made a positive exit from incubation and are further developed as alumni. The companies have attracted a total of almost SEK 90 million in external investments.
Approach and implementation
During the project, Science Park Skövde Startup has achieved set goals and effects by providing a structured business development process with proven methods and tools, support through relevant networks and partners, and a clear strategy of early verification of admitted business ideas against market neeeds. The target group for the incubator has mainly been business ideas within the science park´s profile areas, IT / Tech and computer games, and where most applicant for the program have been in a very early phase of their business development.
