Important results from the project
Purpose: To develop the idea and create possibilites to test it in practice. - Fulfilled; the idea is refined, Växjö county is closer to implementing and building a greenhouse for county kitchen needs. Goal: 1) To establish a workgroup - fulfilled 2)To develop the idea and create a work schedule for realisation of the project idea - fulfilled 3) To investigate possibilites of financing and plan applications for demonstrating the concept - Partly fulfilled. Financing other than grants has to be further discussed within the county.
Expected long term effects
The result of this project is a work schedule with a general suggested organization scheme around a greenhouse for public needs, in cooperation with a social business as well as conventional businesses. Expected effects of this project is a coming grant application for partial funding of a demonstration project where a greenhouse will be built. However, possible funding from the county has to be further discussed, and several different possible places for a greenhouse has been identified and has to be discussed further.
Approach and implementation
The setup using a project group combined of several different groups associated with the idea, and interviewing public officials, politicians, social businesses, entrepreneurs m.m. and visiting organic greenhouses and greenhouses connected with social businesses has been sucessful. However, in this project we have had difficulties finding persons with the right competence in organic greenhouse farming. The lack of this competence is clear, and is in a way also underlining the importance of a pilot project in full scale to be able to educate more people in the subject.
