Green City 2017

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to establish Grön Stad as a national conference for anyone who wants to contribute to transforming Swedish cities into sustainable cities. That goal was considered to be met if the conference attracted at least 100 people, of which at least 50 percent came from the public sector. All goals were met.

Expected results and effects

A conference was conducted where Gröna Städer´s vision and mission could be communicated to the participants. The outcome of this has mainly been that members of Gröna Städer communicated a continued interest in engaging in Gröna Städer and that other actors sought contact for dialogue on cooperation. In the longer term, the work of Grön Stad 2018 is expected to be simpler and more efficient, as both the conference and Gröna Städer have become more established.

Planned approach and implementation

The conference was conducted as an intensive one day conference with many short passes and panel discussions. The focus was on positive examples of both technical and institutional interactions between the public and private sector in order to promote a sustainable conversion of Swedish cities, as well as to create new sustainable cities. This implementation went largely well, but the audience had probably appreciated more breaks to get a better chance to talk and exchange contacts.
