Important results from the project
Good Guide Skellefteå is a travel guide to Skellefteå in the year 2052. It is a kind of science fiction rooted in knowledge-based speculation. It is not a prophecy! What you find here is not the future of Skellefteå municipality, but a possible future one of many. It is a journey of discovery, a provocation the first statement in a conversation. It describes a sustainable, attractive and inclusive society that is based on a circular relationship with nature´s resources. Where culture acts as a lever for change, and a diversity of solutions allows us to face future challenges together.
Expected long term effects
Good Guide Skellefteå has resulted in a book that is available in printed and digital form. The book is expected to serve as support in conversations with politicians, civil servants and the public about the future of Skellefteå. The methodology that has been developed within the project is also applicable in other municipalities and cities. The project has also resulted in a newly established collaboration between business and researchers around climate issues in relation to culture and the built environment. The collaboration is expected to progress in other projects in the future.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** An interdisciplinary team consisting of architects, planners, researchers, writers and illustrators has together explored how the sustainable, attractive and inclusive Skellefteå of the future can look and function. The work is based on research, interviews and workshops and has partly taken place on site in Skellefteå. Important challenges, places and events have been identified and based on these, a story world has been built up in text and images.
