Important results from the project
Healthcare associated infections (HAIs) represents a growing issue and a significant economic burden in modern Healthcare.ts. This applies especially to operating rooms - an environment where the sterile staff simultaneously need to interact with a variety of computers and displays. This project investigated the practical applications of Erghis´ technology in a OR-context and tested it in a clinical setting together with both staff and medtech companies.
Expected long term effects
The project provided a clear picture of the concrete needs and the possible practical obstacles regarding use of Erghis gesture control system in the OR-context. Erghis´s technology has been improved based on the feedback gained through the project, which has also resulted in a patent application.
Approach and implementation
The project was divided into three parts, with software development conducted parallel to them. Sahlgrenska contributed with a ´needs analysis´ and user testing in parts 1 and 2. Part 3 consisted of user tests with St. Mary´s in London and integration (including testing thereof) in Germany with a leading medtech company.
